Cardiopulmonary
The TCMH cardiopulmonary department is an allied health specialty which assists in the treatment, management, control and diagnostic evaluation of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities associated with the cardiopulmonary system.
The cardiopulmonary department is staffed 24 hours a day. Procedures and services offered by the cardiopulmonary team include 02 therapy; bedside pulmonary screening; pulmonary functions; blood gas analysis; electrocardiograms, and pulse oximetry. Other procedures include IPPB therapy; aerosol therapy with nebulized medication; ultrasonic therapy; cardiopulmonary resuscitation; 24-hour holter monitor; chest physical therapy and management of ventilator patients.
Cardiac stress testing is another important facet of the cardiopulmonary department. Cardiac stress testing is used as a screening tool for patients who are at risk for developing coronary artery disease. The information gained from stress testing assists the physician in making an accurate diagnosis and developing a comprehensive treatment plan.
The cardiopulmonary department plays an important role in patient outcome. They are part of the healing force at TCMH.
