Our swing bed program offers people the skilled care they need until they are ready to be on their own again or rejoin the nursing home. Texas County Memorial Hospital is pleased to have joined NICHE (Nurses Improving Care for Health-System Elders), a national program to improve care for older hospitalized adults. More than 38 percent of the patients admitted to TCMH are over the age of 65 and, as such, face a variety of health risks specific to elders. Through this program, TCMH will undertake a number if steps to recognize and prevent or treat these health problems. In the first phase of the program TCMH will begin providing extra training to a core group of “Geriatric Resource Nurses” who will become leaders and role models to their peers on the nursing units. If you have a hospitalization need, we are here for you!
