Texas County Memorial Hospital has named Shanda Melton of Mountain Grove the January employee of the month.
Melton is a registered nurse in the medical surgical department at TCMH, and she has worked for the hospital for almost three years. Melton was nominated for the award by Kristi Atkins, medical surgical director at TCMH.
“Shanda is a great patient advocate,” Atkins said, adding, “She loves being a nurse and caring for others.”
Atkins explained that Melton “communicates effectively” with patients, patient family members, physicians and other hospital staff.
“Shanda is willing to work any shift, adapting well to any situation and remaining positive,” Atkins said.
As employee of the month, Melton received a certificate honoring her achievement; a pin; $100 cash; a special parking place in the TCMH lot; one day of paid vacation; a $50 gift card; gift certificates to Paws N Claws, D&L Florist and Janstiques, and cd of the month from Big Country 99. A reception will be held at the hospital in honor of Melton.
Melton is eligible for the 2013 TCMH employee of the year award.
