June 16, 2026Texas County Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce Christian Neal and Jennifer Hack, certified nursing assistants (CNA) in our medical-surgical department, are the co-recipients of the 2026 Spring Sunflower Award.
The Sunflower Award at TCMH is an annual award that recognizes CNAs, emergency department technicians, and surgical technicians who demonstrate outstanding service and compassion while exemplifying TCMH’s mission of excellence in a non-nursing role.
“Christian and Jennifer exemplify the compassion, professionalism, and dedication that make TCMH a special place to receive care,” Courtney Owens, TCMH Chief Nursing Officer, said. “Their commitment to serving others and supporting our patients and staff makes them truly deserving of the Sunflower Award.”
Christian Neal of Raymondville and Jennifer Hack of Houston were selected as the recipients of the Sunflower Award. Neal has worked at TCMH since December 2024 and Hack since November 2021.
Owens presented the awards to Neal and Hack.
“I am grateful to everyone who took the time to submit nominations and recognize the incredible contributions of our CNAs and emergency room technicians,” Owens said. “Their compassion, hard work, and commitment to patient care play a vital role in creating the exceptional experience our patients and families receive at TCMH.”
Neal received the Sunflower Award for being nominated by Lu Adams, a TCMH patient.
In the nomination, Lu, praised Christian for his exceptional people skills and care.
“Christian goes above and beyond to meet patient needs and ensure patient comfort,” Lu said. “He is pleasant and prompt every time he is called.”
Hack received the Sunflower Award for being nominated by Michelle Murphy, a TCMH patient’s mother.
“Jennifer was very helpful and went above and beyond to make sure our family was comfortable during our daughter’s stay,” Michelle said.
“Christian and Jennifer are outstanding members of our medical-surgical team whose dedication and caring attitudes make a difference every day,” Shelly Hawkins, TCMH medical-surgical director, said. “They embody the values of TCMH through their hard work, compassion, and commitment to excellence, and we are proud to recognize them with this well-deserved honor.”
Neal and Hack received a special recognition certificate and a sunflower pin.
Nominations for the Sunflower Award are accepted year-round from patients, family members, and colleagues. Award winners are selected and recognized annually.
